Can ArtistScope Translate be used on any web site?
ArtistScope Translate can be used on any web site hosted on a Windows web server with either ASP, CFM, CGI or PHP support enabled for the web site. Users with FrontPage web sites will find that ArtistScope Translate is quite simple to install and easy to add to any existing web pages.
How does ArtistScope Translate actually work?
Wherever you want words and phrases translated, you simply replace those words/phrases in your html with its calling tag. The calling tag is replaced with the translation on the fly according to the selected/detected language. For example with ASP (or in FrontPage), to display the phrase or sentence for "Please check the details below before submitting" you simply add a tag similar to <%= Artis.Tran("slangPleaseCheck") %>
How do I know which calling tags to use?
When you register for an ArtistScope Translate licence you will receive the complete inventory of available calling tags translated in your native language.
How easy is it to install ArtistScope Translate?
If you have admin rights to the server, all you need to do is run the server install package to unpack the support DLL and add it to the registry. Otherwise you will need to get your web hosting support to install the DLL for you.
Can I use ArtistScope Translate for all web sites on the server?
Yes. Once the DLL is installed on a server an unlimited number of web sites can use ArtistScope Translate. However each domain will need to be licensed to remove the nag screen at the top of the translated pages.
Can extra languages and phrases be added?
Absolutely. If your native language is not already included in the standard module, it can be added for free providing you can provide the translation for that language. Extra words and phrases can also be added to better support your custom application.
Why doesn't ArtistScope Translate use a database that can be edited?
ArtistScope Translate uses a dynamic link library at system level which is a hundred times faster and can be a thousand times more resource efficient than using a database that will be queried by each individual visitor for each page delivered.
